Clearing the Way
A few weeks ago, I noticed that I had a difficult time motivating
myself to work in my office. Despite the work that needed to be done,
I avoided the space more and more each day. I usually kept my desk
cleared off, but now it was piled high with files, papers and books.
My home office was no longer an inviting space to write, work or create.
I asked myself, What happened? How could I have let my office get so
disorganized? No wonder I was uninspired and unproductive – the
space was full of clutter that needed to be cleared out now!
It so happens that the day I started to clear out my office was
Unplug America 2007 day. A day devoted to giving
Mother Earth a rest by turning off the radio, TV and computer, and
leaving the car at home. Since I'd made the commitment to unplug,
it was the perfect time to clear out my office. As I hauled file
folders, books and papers out of the office into the
kitchen, I immediately felt a release. I was doing more than
clearing out the old – I was making way for new ideas,
inspiration and the space for opportunities to flow into my life.
I cried with joy as I let go of the old and welcomed in the new.
During the cleansing process, it occurred to me that I was following
my own advice taken from my audio book,
A Woman's Guide to Her Inner Evolution by bringing
some order back into my life. Since one of my Top 10 Acts of Self Nurturing
is to "organize, organize, organize", I was putting that into motion.
It was a liberating feeling!
Here's the excerpt from the audio book:
If your desk, car, home and closets are a mess, or if, on a regular
basis, you can not seem to find your keys, it is time to bring some
order back into your life. Being organized will help you save time and
energy. Hire someone to help you get organized, if you do not have the
knack for it, or take a look at the ancient art of Feng Shui. Both will
help you eliminate excessive chaos in your life, and help you feel less
stressed and more productive.

After two days of intense clearing, a new space emerged – bright,
open, organized and free of clutter. Now that my space was clear, I
wanted it to reflect who I am at this time – a successful life
coach. I consulted The Western Guide to Feng Shui for Prosperity
book by
Terah Kathryn Collins, and began implementing some of the Feng Shui
principles into my space. I enhanced the space with splashes of red, added
a fountain, bamboo plant, wind chime, a red vase, crystal, coins,
photos and inspirational sayings – symbolic of gratitude, wealth
and prosperity.
In addition to embellishing my office with items that spark creativity and
prosperity, I started My Portfolio of Wealth journal, another suggestion from
Collins. It's a spiral bound journal with a beautiful butterfly on its cover.
I've been writing down people, places and things that I am grateful for, and
qualities and talents I am blessed with in my life. The journal is full of
pages affirming my abundant gratitude and wealth. I keep it close by to read
and add to it as things come to mind.
As I work in my now energizing office space, I'm smiling from ear to ear.
I'm proud of my accomplishments, and am excited about spending time in my
new inspiring space. By clearing the way, de-cluttering, organizing and
surrounding myself with positive things, I'm more productive, creative and
less-stressed. What an awesome feeling!
You too can experience the joy of clearing the way. Start by letting go
of the clutter, and organzing your working and living spaces. Next, create
your own portfolio of wealth journal. Remember, your life is always in
transition, and by constantly clearing the way, you make space for
opportunities and people to flow into your life.
